Abstract

This report presents forecast and recent quarter review of Taiwanese feature phone shipment volume, shipment value, ASP, volume and share by maker and by price point, and manufacturer volume ranking. The report also includes product mix analyses, including phone type, system technology, display color count mix, embedded camera and camera array format, and handset shape. Assembly levels, production locations, shipment destinations, business types, and customer portfolios are also examined. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with feature phone makers. The report finds that Taiwanese feature phone industry saw merely moderate sequential growth in shipment volume in the second quarter of 2010, while ASP declined due to increased shipment for emerging markets. With small-scale shipment volume increase but falling ASP, shipment value dropped as a result. Although the Taiwanese feature phone industry continued to see year-on-year shipment volume declines in the second quarter, new orders placed by branded vendors are expected to boost the shipment volume in the third quarter. It is forecasted that shipment volume will finally see sequential growth in the third quarter of 2010.
